Steelers Manhandled by the Ravens

 By:  Marcus Wyche

Did you really watch that game between the Ravens and the Steelers? The Ravens fully dismanted the Steelers in just about every phase of the game. The only phase that the Steelers won was special teams...Ok the Ravens did cause 7 turnovers...so not many chances.

I listened to all the nay sayers, such as Skip Bayless (ESPN First Take) say Joe Flacco isn't this and Joe Flacco isn't that, but how can you say these things when he never had the weapons he has now. I watched a younger faster offense make a great defense look old and slow [Editors Note: The Steelers defense is the oldest in the league....so they are old]. The Steelers looked a step behind the entire game. Also, something was proved to me and that's Troy Polamalu is not very good in coverage anymore. You saw Ed Dickson beat him for a touchdown, and he's a tight end.

I must say that I have never seen the vaunted Steeler defense get pushed around as badly as they did. This is going to be the year the Ravens get back to the Super Bowl!! I know it's just one game, but if the offense can keep this up and the defense keeps playing like they do, this will be one scary team to face and it's time the rest of the league take notice.

Did any of you see how Lee Evans helped the offense out? I realize he had no catches, but he did something the other guys from last season could not do; he helped clear out the middle of the field so Dickson and Pitta could do their thing. Evans brings that type of speed that we have been missing on the Ravens offense. With Evans and Torrey Smith clearing out the middle of the field, Dickson and Pitta got their catches. This all helped Ray Rice crack the 100 yard mark; and just in case you didn't know, Ray Rice was the last running back to crack the 100 yard mark against the Steelers back in 2009.

On defense, you have to admit the "man-child" Haloti Ngata is a force to be reckoned with. The first play of the second half I thought Ngata damn near killed Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall. Terrell Suggs(T-Sizzle) did just what I thought he would, pressuring Big Ben, forcing him to fumble and throw a few picks. I thought he injured Roethlisberger on that first sack when he came flying through like he was shot out of a cannon. People may think I am just a homer or crazy, [Editors Note: I am going with both a homer AND crazy] but if the Ravens keep their head on straight we could be looking at a 14-2 team.

I am sitting here watching GameDay Final on the NFL Network and Michael Irvin made a good point, if the Ravens offense and defense play like this and together, uh-oh the NFL is in trouble. Is this a team anyone really wants to play? The only other team that people really need to worry about is the Green Bay Packers, and they are just crazy good.

Did the Steelers run their mouths just a little too much about the Ravens? That's debatable, but I do know this, they won't have much to say in November when they meet each again. Like I said earlier, I expected the Ravens to win this game, but not to the extent that they did. Was it fun for me, yes it was, but remember folks, it's only one game. Next up the Titans.

See you all on Friday!!
